Important hint: We moved the keyword field back from the text optimization module to the metadata module. Please re-activate it after the update in the metadata module and also clean your browser cache to see the new styles!
The update of our WordPress SEO Plugin on version 1.5 is an in-between release for version 2 of our tool. In the very first time we introduce a new software architecture for better stability and easier usability. Therefore we improved the metadata, microdata, rating and text optimization modules.
Additionally we removed the module for image optimization, as WordPress can compress images since some months by itself. We also removed the duplicate and keyword check for meta data and links as Googles “RankBrain” – a kind of A.I. algorithm – is able to recognize smallest differences within the contents by itself and can also adapt the displayed meta information for better click rates. So we follow Google by making the SEO process easier with those removals. The SEO traffic light is also removed, as we’re working out something new therefore…
We apology that we didn’t renewed our tutorials already but as it’s very much work and we have to test now the new architecture first, we think it’s better to wait until we have first learnings and the secret new function released. But as the editing is much easier now, we think you won’t even need need tutorials.
More extensive metadata settings
You can now define metadata rules for every kind of post type and language. This makes it easier to semi auto-optimize different kinds of information of your WordPress website.
Additionally, you can leverage now the character limit of the meta title up to 70 and the character limit for the meta description up to 170.
Easier metadata editing
We also reworked the editor mode for metadata. Now you can define multiple keywords and individually st up the primary keyword for your context optimization.
Additionally, there’s a meta-title preview in which regularly adopts your title but can also be individualized. The meta-title field also helps us to import easier full titles from Yoast, if you change to our SEO plugin.
New attributes area
In the new SEO attributes area below the text editor of WordPress we implemented the settings for the text optimization and microdata. Therefore we created a more clearly layout.
To check if your content is formatted correctly we removed two settings, of which we think they can be solved better:
- We now don’t check any IDs in headlines for anchor links any more, as adding them is impossible without know how in coding. We’re convinced that it’s much easier just to use plugins like the One Page Navigator für den Visual Composer or Table of Contents Plus to (auto) create indexes with anchor link navigations.
- We don’t check any more strong or italic formats to avoid people assume that stuffing their contents full of them makes contents better. But it’s the opposite: every unnatural format worsens usability and that’s also a ranking factor.
The WDF*IDF text optimization now works without saving before. Just fill in your comptetitors URLs, click on “Compare sites” and try to insert all words from the list, which appears on the right. But please take it just as an inspiration don’t stuff your content with those words. Your contents are not for Google or Bing, but for your visitors and should be easy to read.
Shortly before the update we added a button for the tool AnswerThePublic below the WDF*IDF function so that you can easily get yourself inspired by questions, which may make sense to answer in your contents (it’s not yet in the screenshot above).

Additionally you can add individual microdata on every site in the editor mode. We’ll extend the possibilities for structured data soon…
… are now also in the comment function of WordPress. So, you can offer your visitors or customers to rate your posts, contents and offers directly. If you just want your customers to rate your products or services, just set in WordPress that you authorize every comment manually. This makes reputation building much easier, as you’re not any more completely dependent to other solutions like Google Business (we still recommend to build reputation there, too, but often customers don’t want to appear there with their real names).
Summary & forecast
We spent over 1000 hours in this update and are proud that we now have the basis for a significantly easier and more efficient WordPress SEO. Our plugin is not perfect yet but it’s on a good way to become so.
Next we check your feedback and will bugfix every error as soon as possible. Certainly, we test every release candidate on many different WordPress systems but it’s impossible for us to check all indefinite possibilities.
Simultaneously we’ll check the import possibilities for other SEO plugins and will then finish our work for version 2. Then, we’ll also change the pricing of our plugin. But this will only take affect on new customers.
