Relaunch

Can you implement a relaunch yourself - or when is external consulting or an agency worthwhile?

A website relaunch can in principle be carried out internally or with no-code tools. Whether this makes sense, however, depends heavily on complexity, risk and objectives. An in-house implementation is realistic when: the website is manageable in scope (e.

g. few pages, low SEO dependency); there's little existing organic traffic; no complex URL structures or migrations are needed; the goal is primarily a visual or technical update. However, as relevance and complexity increase, the risk grows significantly.

External consulting or support becomes especially worthwhile when: existing rankings and lead channels need to be protected; many pieces of content, pages or systems are affected; strategic decisions on positioning and structure are needed; internal experience with relaunch projects is lacking. It's important to distinguish between implementation and steering: operational implementation can be carried out internally or by agencies - but the biggest lever lies in strategic planning, prioritisation and risk assessment. A common mistake is viewing the relaunch purely in technical or design terms and making strategic decisions too late.

In short: a relaunch can be implemented in-house - what matters is whether it's also set up correctly from a strategic perspective. That's exactly where external consulting adds the most value.
